Overview
The Child Protection Specialist will coordinate and strengthen the Monitoring and Reporting System for Haiti, ensuring sustained and effective monitoring of grave violations against children. The role involves managing MRM information and reporting, promoting partnerships, and supporting child protection actions in emergencies.
Tasks Summary
- - Coordinating and strengthening the Monitoring and Reporting System for Haiti.
- - Managing MRM information and reporting.

- - Support the Country Task Force on Monitoring and Reporting (CTFMR) Secretariat.
- - Implement the Monitoring and Reporting Mechanism (MRM).
- - Ensure collaboration with other monitoring mechanisms.
- - Prepare and coordinate reports and briefings.
- - Keeps CTFMR co-chairs informed of CAAC developments.
- - Contributes to fundraising, fund management, and reporting for MRM-related projects.
- - Supports the mainstreaming of child protection and CAAC concerns.
- - Strengthens partnerships and coordination with UN and humanitarian actors.
- - Liaises with the Office of the SRSG to establish and operationalize the Group of Friends on CAAC.
- - Works with national authorities to strengthen child protection capacity.
- - Engages in field missions and joint assessments.
- - Provides technical leadership for quality CPiE programming.
- - Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience at the national or international levels in human rights, political affairs, international relations or law, including in the promotion and protection of the rights of the child in accordance with international standards, is required.
- Experience in the use of monitoring and reporting tools on child violations such as the Monitoring and Reporting Mechanism (MRM) is desirable.
- Experience working in or in support of a field operation of the United Nations Common System (inclusive of peacekeeping, political missions and UN agencies, funds, and programmes) or a comparable international organization is desirable.
- Experience in analyzing socio-economic, political and security information impacting on the protection of children is desirable.
- Experience in drafting analytical high-level reports on child rights such as Global Horizontal Notes is desirable.
- Experience in armed violence, conflict or post-conflict setting is desirable.
Qualification Requirements
An advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in political science, international relations, law, human rights, social sciences or a related area is required.
