Overview

The Risk Communications and Community Engagement Officer will support the implementation of strategies for sexual health, HIV, and related infectious diseases, focusing on translating strategies into action plans and designing targeted communication campaigns.

Tasks Summary
  • Support implementation of the Strategic Communication and Community Engagement Strategy for SRH, HIV, and related infectious diseases.
  • Translate the strategy into annual action plans, design and implement targeted communication campaigns.
  • Support rollout at national and subnational levels using rights-based, age-appropriate, and culturally sensitive approaches.
  • Lead development of communication toolkits and evidence-based messaging across multiple channels.
  • Adapt global and national guidance into consistent messaging.
  • Serve as the focal point for SRH, BBV, TB, HIV and STI communication and community engagement activities.
  • Coordinate with communications partners, media partners, communities, civil society organizations, UN partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage media relations and public information.
  • Monitor and respond to misinformation related to HIV.
  • Ensure online content adheres to confidentiality, safeguarding, and ethical standards.
  • Support MHMS in coordinating the HIV Communication Technical Working Group.
  • Establish and maintain community feedback and listening mechanisms.
  • Develop tools to assist with the monitoring and evaluation of communications and community engagement activities.
  • Ensure regular reporting of communication and community engagement activities.
  • Contribute to programme reports, donor updates, and knowledge products.
Experience Requirements
  • At least 2 years’ experience in risk communication, community engagement, or health promotion within sexual health or HIV programs.
  • Experience with national or donor-funded programs is desirable.
Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in communications, public health, or social sciences, or related field.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in any of the above disciplines will be an advantage.
Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluency in the English language.

Languages Preferred: • Fluency in the iTaukei language is an asset.

Contract Duration: 12 months initially

Work Modality:

Remuneration: • Salary for this role will start from FJD 32,999.24 to FJD 53,034.50, based on qualifications and experience.
