Overview
The Associate Reintegration Officer supports the assistance of returnees and host communities in achieving sustainable solutions, ensuring reintegration and protection strategies are integrated into program components.
Tasks Summary
- - Stay abreast of local context impacting reintegration and integration opportunities.
- - Participate in inter-agency programming processes and advocate for reintegration needs.
- - Advise on activities to meet basic needs, improve socio-economic self-reliance, and build peaceful coexistence.
- - Coordinate reintegration projects with partners.
- - Act as a focal point for reintegration activities.
- - Manage, analyze, and report on reintegration situations.
- - Plan and implement training activities for staff capacity building.
- - Monitor durable solutions and peace-building activities.
- - Assist in organizing evaluations and reviews of reintegration programmes.
- - Assist senior managers in resource mobilization.
- - Represent UNHCR in consultations with government offices and partners.
- - Initiate measures to redress problems identified through monitoring.
Experience Requirements
- Proven technical background in reintegration, community-based protection, and social cohesion, with demonstrated experience working in complex, post-conflict, and displacement-affected settings.
- Demonstrated understanding of the challenges faced by returnees, with experience in designing, implementing, and/or coordinating integrated and context-sensitive reintegration, protection, or recovery programmes in humanitarian or early recovery contexts, preferably within UNHCR.
- Proven ability to translate protection monitoring findings into actionable reintegration programming, and to advocate for reintegration priorities within broader recovery and development frameworks.
- Prior exposure to reintegration challenges linked to stigmatization, deradicalization, social tensions, conflict resolution, or community acceptance, particularly in sensitive return contexts, would be a strong asset.
Field experience in reintegration/local integration situations.
Familiar with Peace-building (Fund), UNDAF, UN joint programming process and inter-agency collaboration is desirable.
Experience with development agencies is an added value.
