Overview
The Senior Protection Associate will oversee the national-level implementation of UNHCR’s Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and specialized services for Persons with Specific Needs (PSN), providing technical guidance and operational support.
Tasks Summary
- Overseeing the national-level implementation of UNHCR’s MHPSS and specialized services for PSN.
- Providing technical guidance and operational support to UNHCR field offices.
- Regular field missions to support capacity building, provide technical assistance, and monitor programme implementation.
- Supervising and coordinating protection staff and/or partners.
- Programme planning, monitoring, and oversight.
- Designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating MHPSS and PSN interventions.
- Contributing to a country-level child protection plan and education plan.
- Managing individual protection cases including those on GBV and child protection.
- Assisting in identifying durable solutions for PoC.
- Facilitating effective information management through the provision of disaggregated data.
Experience Requirements
- Demonstrated understanding of UNHCR’s protection mandate.
- Proven expertise in providing MHPSS counselling at both individual and group levels.
- Experience designing and delivering specialized training on advanced MHPSS interventions.
- Experience working collaboratively with government ministries, local authorities, and social institutions.
- Proven experience in supervising and coordinating protection staff and/or partners.
- Demonstrated capacity in programme planning, monitoring, and oversight.
- 4 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 2 years relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher.
Qualification Requirements
- Advanced university degree in Psychology, Psychological Counseling, Social Work, or Sociology.
- Certificates and/or Licenses: International Law; Political Science; or other relevant field.
