Overview

The Legal Intern will assist in research and documentation efforts for regional legal frameworks and market studies, contributing to the strengthening of legal and regulatory frameworks across the region.

Tasks Summary
  • Conduct preliminary research on assigned legal topics, particularly related to the building materials sector in Oman.
  • Provide general project assistance by drafting, editing, and proofreading documents, presentations, and reports with legal component.
  • Contribute to the development of reports, country profiles, and related analyses of the ABLF.
  • Gather and input legal data into a computerized database system and contribute to the ongoing updates of the ALP.
  • Support activities related to the legal assessment of Oman market study for the building material sector.
  • Support the organization and maintenance of electronic legal reference files.
  • Perform additional tasks and assignments as directed by the supervisor.

No previous work experience is required for this job opening.

Qualification Requirements
  • Enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent); or
  • Have graduated with a university degree (as defined above);
  • Computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English and Arabic is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of French is desirable.

Contract Duration: 2 months

Work Modality: This position allows for flexible working arrangements, contingent upon written agreement by the receiving entity.

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
