Overview

The internship position is in the Macroeconomic and Development Policies (MDPB) to support the production of the annual Trade and Development Report (TDR). The role involves analysing global economic trends and providing policy proposals.

Tasks Summary

• Assist to maintain, update, and organize datasets within the database management system (MySQL).
• assist in migrating legacy Excel-based datasets into a structured, scalable, and normalized database.
• Implement version control practices (Git) for scripts, pipelines, and documentation.
• Help to design and build interactive dashboards in Power BI for data visualizations.
• Compiling data and statistics for charts and visual outputs and incorporating that in Power BI dashboards
• Editorial assistance with texts, charts and overall layout
• Assistance with preparing substantive inputs
• Working on power-presentations
• Assistance with communication materials

Experience Requirements

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.

Qualification Requirements

• Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,
• Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
• Should be computer literate in standard software applications;

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Contract Duration: 3-6 months

Work Modality: in-person or remote

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
