Overview

The Public Information Intern (Website and Digital Communications) will support the website migration project by assisting with content review, mapping, and updates, and will also support broader digital communications needs, particularly graphic design and web-focused content creation.

Tasks Summary

• Assist in auditing, reviewing and updating existing website content for relevance, clarity, and accuracy.
• Work with programme teams to map and streamline content across thematic areas.
• Support the structuring of content for migration into a new content management system (CMS).
• Help develop page mockups, draft layouts, templates and visual guidelines.
• Support the building and basic design of web pages on both current and new websites, ensuring consistency with UNOOSA’s branding and accessibility standards.
• Track content migration progress and maintain internal documentation.
• Support the creation and maintenance of an internal Sharepoint communications knowledge hub.
• Create web graphics, banners, infographics and layout templates using Canva, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator or similar tools.
• Assist in the design and formatting of visual assets for web publication and social media, ensuring outputs adhere to UNOOSA’s visual identity.
• Participate in team meetings, provide updates on assigned tasks, and propose improvements.
• Support with internal coordination, data entry, file management, and related administrative tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of UNOOSA’s digital presence and communications.

Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualification Requirements

• HS Diploma
• Be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); OR be enrolled in, or have completed recently, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
• Be computer literate in standard software applications; proficiency in preparing spreadsheets.
• Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
• Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Contract Duration: Six (6) months

Work Modality: remote

Remuneration: The internship is UNPAID and interns work five days per week (full time - 40 hours). Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
