Overview

The UN Volunteer will provide communications support to the WHO Country Office, Sri Lanka, informing the public of its work and conveying complex health-related information in an understandable format.

Tasks Summary
  • Create editorial content (stories, photos, infographics, film) for web, social media, and print.
  • Highlight WHO's visibility, achievements, and success stories.
  • Create templates for standard communication products.
  • Develop content for WCO website and social media platforms.
  • Coordinate the implementation of the communication plan and SOP.
  • Facilitate responding to media inquiries, arrange interviews, and develop speeches and talking points.
Experience Requirements
  • At least three years’ work experience in the field of communication, social marketing and/or health promotion.
  • Demonstrated success in a communication role.
  • WHO and/or UN’s experience in communication is an advantage.
Qualification Requirements
  • Essential: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, social sciences, political sciences, communication or a related field.
  • Desirable: Post-Graduate Degree Journalism, Public Health, Social Sciences, Mass Communication or related field.

Languages Required: English, Level: Fluent, Required

Languages Preferred: Sinhalese, Level: Working knowledge, Desirable Tamil, Level: Working knowledge, Desirable

Contract Duration: 6 months (with possibility of extension)
