Overview

This internship supports the Library and Knowledge Management Section in various tasks related to library, information, and knowledge management to enhance the visibility of library resources and ESCAP's work.

Tasks Summary

• - Assisting in reviewing document retention policies
• Taking part in the Library’s filing and knowledge management tasks and initiatives
• Assisting in collection management activities (shelving, weeding, etc.)
• Assisting in reference and circulation services
• Designing and publishing publicity and training materials on the Library's e-resources, services and ESCAP publications
• Taking part in the Library's information management, knowledge management, and digital asset management tasks and initiatives
• Performing other related work, as required.

Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualification Requirements

• be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
• be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent)
• have studied administration is desirable.
• Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of an additional ESCAP working language (Chinese, and Russian) is an asset.

Contract Duration: 3 - 6 months

Work Modality:

Remuneration: Internship is unpaid. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
