Overview

The internship is in Treasury within the Office of Program Planning Finance and Budget (OPPFB) of the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC). The internship provides practical educational experience working in a multicultural and intergovernmental organization.

Tasks Summary
  • Support the development of treasury compliance activities.
  • Support the development of the United Nations debit card programme.
  • Assist in collecting, organizing, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Taking notes and minutes of meetings.
  • Obtaining and filing documents and internal data from UN Secretariat entities in different formats.
  • Conducting qualitative, statistical and quantitative analyses of the data collected.
  • Developing dashboards including data cleaning, coding and recoding.
  • Visualizing the data using MS Excel and Power BI.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualification Requirements
  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.
  • Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and analytic tools such as Power BI.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Modality: remote or in-person

Remuneration: The internship is UNPAID. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
