Overview

The Human Rights Intern will support the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in fulfilling its mission to protect human rights. The role involves assisting with coordination activities, research, data compilation, and supporting human rights projects and activities.

Tasks Summary

• Assist in drafting and preparing official documents
• Conduct thematic, legal and internet research
• Compile data and statistics
• Attend and summarize conferences and meetings
• Provide assistance during conferences and workshops
• Draft presentations and speeches
• Conduct media analysis
• Perform other related duties requested by the supervisor

Experience Requirements

Qualification Requirements

• Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,
• Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).

Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluency in English is required

Languages Preferred: • Knowledge of another United Nations official language (i.e. Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish) or Khmer would be an advantage

Contract Duration: 3 months

Work Modality:

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
