Overview

The Trade Facilitation Intern will assist the Trade Facilitation Section in research and analysis on trade facilitation, customs, and supply chains, as well as related technical assistance projects.

Tasks Summary

• Participation in online meetings with the supervisor and team.
• Undertake research and analysis on trade facilitation, customs, transit, new technologies in supply chains.
• Assist the TFS team in the preparation and standardization of material for training modules of the UNCTAD Empowerment programme for National Trade Facilitation Committees (NTFCs) on trade facilitation and the management of the NTFCs.
• Assist in preparing digital and paper-based products (such as brochures, presentations, articles, etc) for promoting the Empowerment programme.
• Assist and contribute in the preparation and organization of in-person and online workshops, starting from backstopping the prepatory work, organization, and delivery, up to the final assessment and reporting after the completion of the workshops.
• Prepare short drafts on specific issues as indicated by the supervisors, including development of charts, graphs.
• Provide substantive support to the preparation of relevant documents (e.g. presentations, project documents and management of projects) as required by the above-mentioned activities.
• Support other activities of the Section as required.

Experience Requirements

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualification Requirements

• Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
• Should be computer literate in standard software applications;
• Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
• Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Contract Duration: 3 months with a possibility for extension for an additional three months.

Work Modality: in-person or remote

Remuneration: The Internship Programme is unpaid and full-time, i.e., an intern is expected to work five days per week (40 hours). All costs of travel, accommodation, medical insurance and living expenses must be covered by the intern.
