Overview
The Education Officer (Digital) provides technical, operational, and administrative assistance for education programmes and projects, with a focus on digital transformation in education and supporting UNICEF's engagement under the Giga initiative.
Tasks Summary
- Support programme development and planning, including situation analysis, research on development trends, and contributing to sectoral programme goals and strategies.
- Provide technical and administrative support throughout programming processes, including executing technical programme transactions and preparing materials.
- Conduct research, provide technical guidance, and identify innovative approaches in digital technologies for education.
- Provide strategic and technical leadership for the Giga initiative, acting as the Country Office focal point for school connectivity.
- Work closely with colleagues and partners to collect, analyze, and share information on implementation issues and suggest solutions.
- Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises, programme reviews, and prepare minutes/reports.
- Develop and oversee the implementation of digital transformation strategies and initiatives.
- Monitor and report on the use of sectoral programme resources and verify compliance.
- Prepare draft inputs for programme/donor reporting.
- Support work planning, tracking, and reporting of results for Giga-supported activities.
- Undertake field visits and surveys to assess progress and report on critical issues.
- Provide technical and operational support to government counterparts, NGO partners, and other stakeholders.
- Research, analyze, and recommend emerging digital tools, technologies, and partnership modalities.
- Contribute to regional knowledge exchange on digital education and school connectivity.
- Build and sustain effective partnerships with government counterparts and national stakeholders.
- Draft communication and information materials for programme advocacy.
- Participate in inter-agency meetings and events.
- Research information on potential donors and prepare resource mobilization materials.
- Identify and build partnerships with digital education providers and other relevant stakeholders.
- Act as a primary focal point for all Giga activities in BiH.
- Contribute to identifying, capturing, synthesizing, and sharing lessons learned.
- Research and report on best and cutting-edge practices for knowledge product development.
- Participate as a resource person in capacity building initiatives.
- Apply innovative approaches and promote good practices for programme implementation.
Experience Requirements
- A minimum of two years of professional experience in programme planning, management, and/or research in education is required.
- Experience in digital transformation interventions and ecosystem is desirable, including exposure to school connectivity, digital infrastructure, data-driven education planning, or multi-stakeholder coordination with government and private sector partners.
- Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
- Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
Qualification Requirements
A university degree in one of the following fields is required: education, psychology, sociology or another relevant technical field.
