Overview

Provide technical expertise and support for the sustainable development and management of fisheries and aquaculture in the Mediterranean and Black Sea region, contributing to the GFCM 2030 Strategy.

Tasks Summary
  • Provide technical inputs for the implementation of the GFCM 2030 Strategy.
  • Offer technical expertise to monitor, analyze, and address issues related to fisheries management.
  • Coordinate projects and initiatives supporting fisheries management and capacity development.
  • Support the planning and organization of relevant events and activities.
  • Provide technical expertise to assess and monitor aquaculture aspects.
  • Support the GFCM Committee on Compliance and its intersessional activities.
  • Support existing and new research programmes, trials, and pilot studies.
  • Assist in the implementation of work plans of scientific advisory bodies and formulation of scientific advice.
  • Edit and revise technical and scientific documents and publications.
  • Support information management activities.
Experience Requirements
  • At least one year of relevant experience in fisheries research, sustainable aquaculture, natural resource management, project development and implementation, data analysis, MCS and compliance issues or related fields.
  • Work experience in more than one location or area of work, possibly with focus on the Mediterranean and/or Black Sea region.
  • Experience in working with international and intergovernmental organizations, preferably in connection with the Mediterranean and Black Sea region.
Qualification Requirements
  • Advanced University degree from an institution recognized by the international Association of Universities (IAU) UNESCO (for consultants) or technical specialization (only for PSA) in natural, marine biology or related fields, social and economic sciences including any of the following fields: biology, fisheries or natural resources management, aquaculture, fisheries or natural resources economics, fisheries technology, international law, international relations social development, marine/freshwater affairs, or in other field related to the work of the Organization.
  • Consultants with a bachelor's degree need two additional years of relevant professional experience.

Languages Required: • Working knowledge (level C) of English.

Contract Duration: Up to 11 months (renewable)

Work Modality: home-based or located at GFCM headquarters
