Overview

The Procurement Assistant is responsible for executing standardized procurement tasks in compliance with UNICEF procedures to support supply and procurement operations in The State of Palestine.

Tasks Summary

• Provides input to the annual Supply Plan and assists in developing procurement strategies.
• Liaises with programme sections on planning procurement and contracting initiatives.
• Reviews and evaluates incoming purchase requisitions.
• Prepares documentation for Long Term Arrangements (LTAs) and processes procurement requisitions.
• Prepares requests for award and purchase orders in SAP.
• Keeps stakeholders informed on procurement progress and liaises with suppliers.
• Monitors the status of orders and deliveries and prepares status reports.
• Maintains order filing in accordance with UNICEF guidelines.
• Conducts local market surveys for supplier identification.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum five (5) years of working experience in the Procurement field in general, three (3) years and an additional two (2) years of experience may be substituted for candidates holding a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, respectively.
• Excellent knowledge of SAP and use of collaborative tools (SharePoint/Teams).
• Experience in carrying out local procurement of goods and services.
• Experience in dealing with LTAs and complex contracting of services.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Work experience in emergency duty stations.

Completion of Secondary education

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
