Overview
The Insurance Officer will be responsible for establishing, evaluating, and monitoring the insurance coverage of IFC’s investments, providing guidance on risk assessment and insurance management, and drafting risk transfer proposals.
Tasks Summary
- Establish, evaluate and monitor the insurance coverage of IFC’s investments.
- Provide guidance to internal and external clients vis-à-vis risk assessment and insurance management value add service.
- Draft sustainable risk transfer proposal and insurance provisions in legal investment documentation.
- Negotiate insurance coverage with sponsors.
- Provide assistance to clients to achieve positive and sustainable development whilst developing local insurance markets in emerging countries.
- Provide leadership and guidance on non-recourse project financing involving multitude of Lenders without in-house capacity.
- Provide guidance to clients in handling insurance claims where needed.
- Provide value add guidance on operational risk for upstream projects incubated by IFC
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 8-10 years of working experience with a preference to those with 8 years in sophisticated construction and operational phase insurance within insurance industry.
- Significant experience of managing and supporting projects and related insurance needs in multiple geographical regions.
- Strong Familiarity with Industries and Sectors including Infrastructure, Energy, Financial Institutions, Manufacturing, Health and Education, among others.
- Demonstrated ability of leading cross-foundational teams to provide insurance guidance
- Applied knowledge of innovative risk transfer solutions.
- Demonstrated experience working and leading lenders’ insurance advisors workstream.
- Proven ability to effectively multi-task and training internal and external clients.
- Ability to work collaboratively across the organization with superior influencing and interpersonal skills, demonstrating the capacity to deliver results under stressful timetables and environment.
- Excellent negotiation skills and ability to seek innovative and constructive solutions to support IFC in achieving its financial and development goals.

Qualification Requirements
• Master university degree (finance, accounting, business, engineering) with international Insurance qualifications.
