Overview

Provide technical contribution in malaria and vector borne diseases and support to the WHO Country office in implementation of relevant work plans. Promote the generation of evidence on Malaria and other vector borne diseases and contribute to informed policy level decisions by government.

Tasks Summary
  • Provide technical contribution in malaria and vector borne diseases and support to the WHO Country office in implementation of relevant work plans.
  • Promote the generation of evidence on Malaria and other vector borne diseases and contribute to informed policy level decisions by government.
  • Help improve the inclusive malaria information systems and foster the development integrated information systems.
  • Advise on matters regarding equity focused universal health coverage of malaria and vector borne diseases related services.
  • Advise in strengthening multisectoral response for malaria and integrating, innovative private sector engagement models.
  • Provide technical assistance and support for the development of locally tailored Malaria strategies and operational plans.
  • Advise MoH&FW and relevant units/departments on accelerated strategies for malaria burden reduction and elimination.
  • Support MoH&FW department for sub-national malaria elimination and verification of zero indigenous case.
  • Collaborate with MOH&FW in undertaking national malaria and VBDs reviews, gap analysis, formulate recommendations, and support capacity building efforts.
  • Technically review contractual proposals, develop technical proposals, make recommendations to the supervisor regarding WHO's support.
  • Support information brokering/exchange function of WCO India through contributions to the health information repository.
  • Prepare administrative and technical reports and undertake any other tasks as may be assigned by the supervisors.
Experience Requirements
  • Essential: At least two years of experience at national level in implementing malaria and vector borne disease programmes.
  • Desirable: Experience of work in UN/or other international organization. Track record in positions that required strong technical skills within multi-sectoral environment. Experience of vector borne control interventions at national or state level.
Qualification Requirements
  • Essential: Medical Degree (MBBS/MD), or University Degree in Health or Epidemiology, Entomology, Tropical Medicine.
  • Desirable: Postgraduate degree (Master or PhD) in any of the above or a combination of training and experience. Diploma or certificate of postgraduate studies in communicable diseases, malaria or other vector borne diseases.
Other Details

Languages Required: Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English

Languages Preferred: knowledge of Hindi

Contract Duration: 12 months

Work Modality:

Remuneration: Monthly remuneration is INR 218,855 taxable as per Indian laws and the appointment will be through Special Services Agreement (SSA) extendable subject to satisfactory performance and continuing need for the function.
