Overview

The incumbent will lead, manage, and coordinate all aspects of action plans and programmes in Health Promotion, Disease Prevention and Control. The role aims to build capacities and enable people to enjoy better health and well-being through a coordinated, intersectoral approach.

Tasks Summary
  • Oversee technical and managerial coordination in designated areas through a One-health approach.
  • Provide and/or coordinate technical expertise to advise the government and national stakeholders on strategies and policies.
  • Lead and coordinate the adaptation and implementation of WHO norms, standards, guidelines and tools.
  • Develop and monitor work plans and budgets.
  • Advance data analyses and knowledge on best practices.
  • Lead resource mobilization and partnerships with donors and development partners.
  • Lead the development, coordination and implementation of capacity-building programmes.
  • Engage with other sectors beyond health for common objectives.
  • Serve as a leading technical resource concerning multisectoral integration of programmes.
  • Represent WHO in designated forums.
  • Promote and establish new community outreach activities.
  • Support the establishment of monitoring and surveillance systems.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible work experience relevant to the position (in developing and implementing public health, capacity-building policies/strategies and programmes).
  • A significant part of this experience to have been obtained at an international level.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in Healthier Population programmes.
  • Demonstrated professional experience working at the country and/or regional level providing technical advice and services to Member States and other partners on public health programmes.
  • Desirable: Some of the above-listed experience to have been obtained at an international level.
Qualification Requirements
  • Essential: Advanced university degree (master’s level) in a relevant field (such as public health or another area relating to healthier populations’ programmatic work).
  • Desirable: Postgraduate training or specialization in health systems.
Other Details

Languages Required: • Expert knowledge of English is required for reading, writing and speaking.

Contract Duration: 1 year

Work Modality:

Remuneration: • Annual base salary starting at USD 92,731 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable). • A variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 4219 per month for the duty station indicated above. • Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
