Overview

The Protection Officer will support the coordination and implementation of protection interventions, including trafficking in persons and gender-based violence, and provide protection mainstreaming support to other programmes.

Tasks Summary
  • Assist in the coordination and monitoring of protection interventions and projects.
  • Keep supervisor informed on protection activities, identify gaps, and suggest actions.
  • Participate in the development and adjustment of work plans, project budgets, and M&E tools.
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of implementing partner agreements.
  • Coordinate the collection, verification, and analysis of data for protection analysis.
  • Support the collection and organization of information for stakeholder mapping.
  • Coordinate timely preparation and dissemination of project reports.
  • Liaise and coordinate with donors, partners, UN agencies, local authorities, and government counterparts.
  • Contribute to the planning, development, organization, and delivery of capacity building activities.
  • Attend relevant conferences, workshops, working groups, and interagency coordination meetings.
  • Participate in the preparation of project proposals and concept notes.
  • Supervise and provide training and technical guidance to field protection personnel.
  • Undertake duty travel relating to project implementation, monitoring visits, and assessments.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Experience Requirements
  • At least two years of professional experience with a Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Law, Political Science, International relations, Diplomacy, Social Science or a related field.
  • Experience in the field of migration, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and protection.
  • Experience supporting protection programming, including GBV and/or human trafficking.
  • Experience supervising teams, and in guiding and delivering trainings.
  • Experience working with specialized international agencies, including UN agencies, international organizations, and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
  • Experience in humanitarian contexts in similar positions.
  • Experience in project management, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with local authorities, stakeholders, beneficiaries, and the broader community.
Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Law, Political Science, International relations, Diplomacy, Social Science or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
  • Master’s degree in the above fields.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English and Spanish is required (oral and written).

Languages Preferred:

Contract Duration: 6 months (with possibility of extension). Subsequent contract extensions can be approved for periods no longer than 9 months.

Work Modality: with travels to field offices as required
