Workplace Literacy ESOL Instructor

Overview

The Workplace Literacy ESOL Instructor provides integrated English language instruction for non-native English speakers to improve workforce productivity. The role involves developing curriculum, supporting employer partnerships, and tracking student progress.

Tasks Summary

• Deliver integrated ESOL instruction.
• Plan and prepare curricula and lesson plans for mixed-level classes.
• Tune lesson activities to meet student needs across proficiency levels.
• Document student progress towards established employer milestones.
• Orient and conference with current and potential students.
• Administer English language assessments.
• Assist with record-keeping and data entry.
• Maintain accurate and timely attendance records, case notes, and assessment data.
• Maintain a positive learning environment.
• Facilitate student learning activities that build cultural and community knowledge.
• Maintain open and effective communication with adult education team members.
• Report regularly on program goals, client attendance, learning activities, and student progress.
• Actively participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
• Assist with Adult Education new client orientations and training.

Experience Requirements

• Relevant professional experience in education and/or human services is strongly preferred.
• Experience working with immigrants or refugees preferred.

Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (4-year) required.
• Completion of a certificate program in Adult Education, TEFL, TESL, and/or TESOL is preferred.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluent in spoken and written English.

Languages Preferred: Bi-lingual abilities in a language spoken by an IRC client group is desired.

Work Modality: combination of on-site and hybrid delivery

Remuneration: $20.20 - $22.50
