Overview

Supporting the implementation of non-staff capacities for programmes within the UNOCT Office in Madrid, focusing on programme management and policy matters related to counter-terrorism and prevention of violent extremism.

Tasks Summary
  • - Assist in drafting and preparing background documents, reports, issue briefs, talking points, articles, presentations etc.
  • Attend and summarize conferences and meetings.
  • Support organization of meetings and conferences, side events to strengthen strategic engagement with UN system partners.
  • Assist in data collection and conduct research and provide analysis on relevant topics.
  • Assist in maintaining databases.
  • Support the review of key publications.
  • Assist in preparing training and learning events and other capacity building initiatives.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualification Requirements
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); OR be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Be experienced with standard software applications such as Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
  • A field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written English is required.

Languages Preferred: Fluency in French would be a strong asset.

Contract Duration: 3-6 months.

Work Modality: Flexible (Hybrid, all remote, or in-person)

Remuneration: This internship is UNPAID. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
