Overview
The Project Specialist will oversee the day-to-day management of the AMOS-RD project, ensuring its effective and timely implementation. The role involves managing project resources, coordinating with stakeholders, and providing technical support to strengthen meteorological observation services.
Tasks Summary
- Support human resources capacities and manage project resources.
- Lead the preparation of work plans, budgets, and monitoring and evaluation plans.
- Oversee procurement tasks for services and resources.
- Maintain regular contact with partners to coordinate project activities.
- Ensure compliance and financial management of the project.
- Communicate and coordinate with Project Board Members.
- Undertake monitoring and evaluation functions.
- Manage and monitor project risks.
- Ensure effective management of procurement planning and processes.
- Oversee contract management of goods, services, and civil works.
- Support development and dissemination of project progress reports.
- Provide specialized technical support to SIMS.
- Steer technical discussions and general coordination with key stakeholders.
- Lead national coordination and engagement with the Civil Aviation Authority of Solomon Islands.
- Ensure social and environmental risks are assessed and managed.
- Ensure sustainability and government ownership in project implementation.
- Develop knowledge articles, FAQs, and best practices.
- Support the development of advocacy materials.
- Engage specialist support to develop awareness and education materials.
- Collaborate with the communications team on project awareness.
Experience Requirements
• Minimum of 5 years (with master’s degree) or 7 years (with bachelor’s degree) of progressively responsible experience at the national or international level in project management, quality assurance, management advisory services, monitoring and evaluation of development projects, and partnership management.
Qualification Requirements
- Advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in Meteorology, Climatology, Atmospheric Science, Earth Sciences, Climate Studies or related field is required, or
- A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience.
