Overview

Consultancy to identify practical and scalable Nature Based Solutions (NBS) to strengthen community resilience, reduce disaster risk, support livelihoods, and enhance ecosystem services in southern Pakistan.

Tasks Summary
  • Review existing interventions and partner activities to identify NBS integration opportunities.
  • Document stakeholder consultations on potential NBS entry points.
  • Conduct context analysis of selected locations, assessing climate risks and ecosystem vulnerabilities.
  • Assess technically and socially appropriate NBS options.
  • Evaluate implementation feasibility, community acceptance, and resource requirements.
  • Identify replication and scale-up potential for NBS.
  • Develop practical recommendations for NBS intervention integration, piloting, or design support.
  • Align recommendations with ongoing programming.
  • Prepare a final synthesis report and presentation to stakeholders.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in climate resilience, environmental management, disaster risk reduction, sustainable development, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience working on nature-based solutions, ecosystem-based adaptation, climate adaptation, or environmental resilience programming, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with climate adaptation programming and contextual priorities in southern Pakistan, particularly in climate-vulnerable settings.
  • Practical experience engaging with community-level and field-based interventions, including familiarity with rural and climate-vulnerable settings.
  • Experience coordinating with government counterparts, UN agencies, NGOs, and local partners in programme design or implementation.
  • Proven experience in managing and engaging with both local and international organizations in the implementation of humanitarian, development, and/or climate resilience programming.
  • Experience in leading engagement and coordination with district-level authorities, inter-governmental institutions, UN agencies, and national and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
  • Experience in line management of staff and familiarity with UN administrative and management processes.
  • Advantageous: Prior experience working with UN agencies, particularly within multi-partner or consortium-based programmes.
  • Advantageous: Familiarity with UN risk management, procurement, due diligence, accountability to affected populations, protection mainstreaming, monitoring and evaluating, and sustainability and exit processes.
Qualification Requirements
  • Advanced university degree in Environmental Sciences, Climate Change, Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Geography, Development Studies, or related fields.
  • Bachelors or Equivalent degree level.
