Overview
The role involves monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on political developments related to the peace process, and supporting the Mission's political engagement by preparing analytical briefs and reports.
Tasks Summary
- Deliver timely, accurate, and well-structured reports, briefing notes, talking points, and policy papers.
- Support the Mission’s political affairs, including facilitation of dialogue, provision of strategic advice, and contribution to good offices efforts.
- Monitor and analyze national, regional, and international political developments and assess implications for operations.
- Contribute to mission-wide planning processes, ensuring integration of political analysis.
- Provide high-level strategic and technical advice to mission components.
- Advise the SRCC and Head of Mission on policy, operational, managerial, and substantive matters.
- Maintain coordination with international organizations and deliver briefings.
- Prepare substantive materials for the SRCC and senior AU officials.
- Support facilitation and good offices efforts and contribute to policy directives.
- Identify and analyze emerging political issues and recommend strategic responses.
- Stay informed on political developments impacting the Mission’s work.
- Draft talking points, speeches, memos, and briefing materials.
Experience Requirements
At least seven (7) years of professional experience, with a minimum of three (3) years in a relevant role within government, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), think tanks, or multilateral, regional, or international institutions.
Qualification Requirements
A minimum of a university degree in Political Science, International Relations, International Law, or a closely related field.
