Overview

Provide analysis, documentation, and coordination for external engagements to keep senior members of the Political Affairs Section informed of key developments.

Tasks Summary
  • Gather, select, and analyze political information from various sources.
  • Prepare briefing notes, background papers, talking points, meeting summaries, and sections of reports.
  • Keep updates on political developments through meetings with Yemeni and other stakeholders.
  • Keep abreast of latest trends and developments in the area of assignment and provide inputs on issues to senior officials and colleagues when required.
  • Develop and maintain networks of interlocuters.
  • Monitor national and regional level political developments and provide advice.
  • Monitor actions taken by UN organizations, government and non-governmental organizations.
Experience Requirements

A minimum of two (2) years of experience in political affairs is required. Strong familiarity with the political situation in Yemen is required. Experience in support of mediation process is desirable.

Qualification Requirements

Master’s degree in political science, international relations or related field. A first level university degree with a combination of two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English and Arabic (both spoken and written) is required.
