Overview

Provide technical advice and support the execution of technical activities related to ongoing and new projects, focusing on urban infrastructures and sustainable development.

Tasks Summary
  • Provide technical advice and support the execution of technical activities related to ongoing and new projects.
  • Evaluate slope stabilization, retaining structures, and drainage projects.
  • Supervise consultants for projects evaluation.
  • Provide managerial support and coordinate the overall implementation of the project’s work programme.
  • Maintain close communication with counterparts and local partners.
  • Perform technical, administrative, and management activities to ensure projects meet objectives.
  • Provide technical support to implement activities related to capacity building, data management, public policies, strategic planning, SDGs, social mobilization, and advocacy.
  • Provide information for the systematization and exchange of successful practices.
  • Conduct technical activities to ensure projects meet deadlines and quality objectives.
  • Provide inputs for the identification and mitigation of projects’ risks.
  • Attend meetings and conferences promoted by UN-Habitat partners.
  • Document expert group meetings, forums, consultations, training events, and other activities.
  • Prepare reports to partners and internal reports.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.
  • Participate in missions as requested.
  • Complete all indicated courses and training activities.
  • Get familiarized with United Nations security mechanisms and comply with them.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience on urban related themes in Brazil is required.
  • Experience in drainage or slope containment projects is required.
  • Experience in nature-based solutions for drainage or slope containment projects is required.
  • Experience in sustainable urbanization for informal settlements is required.
  • Experience in project/programme management is required.
  • Experience in social housing policies, plans, and projects is desirable.
  • Experience in earthmoving, geometric and pavement projects is desirable.
  • Experience in budget for urban infrastructure projects is desirable.
  • Previous experience within the UN System is desirable.
Qualification Requirements
  • Postgraduate degree (Lato Sensu or Stricto Sensu) in Geotechnical Engineering (Slope Stabilization and Retaining Structures) or Sanitary Engineering is required, or additional three (3) years of relevant experience to the post, beyond the requirement.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related fields is required.
Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluency in Portuguese is required.

Languages Preferred: • Working knowledge of English or Spanish is desirable.

Contract Duration: Six (6) months, with possibility of renewal

Work Modality:

Remuneration: LICA 3. UNOPS Salary Scale.
