Overview

The Communications Intern will assist in designing and scheduling social media content, supporting the production of advocacy materials, and managing website content for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The role aims to boost engagement and visibility for UNODC's mandates.

Tasks Summary
  • Assist in designing and scheduling social media content (cards, infographics).
  • Support the production of advocacy materials (e.g., videos, banners, reports).
  • Help manage and update website content.
  • Translate documents, articles, and social media content between English and Portuguese.
  • Compile daily press clippings on UNODC-related topics.
  • Organize communication files.
  • Provide logistical support for events.
  • Attend events and meetings, documenting key discussions and outcomes.
  • Perform additional communication-related tasks.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Previous internship experience in International Organizations or government is desirable.

Qualification Requirements
  • Be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); OR be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written Portuguese and English is required.

Languages Preferred: Fluency in Spanish is an advantage.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Modality: Remote Part-Time

Remuneration: The internship is UNPAID and interns work five days per week (part time - 20 hours). Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
