Overview

The G20 Global Initiative is seeking interns to support the implementation of initiative activities related to reducing land degradation and enhancing conservation of terrestrial habitats.

Tasks Summary
  • - Assist in the preparation of background notes, briefs, and summary documents.
  • - Support key activities and initiatives in the run up to the 17th Conference of Parties of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification.
  • - Support the team members with compilation of best practices on land restoration.
  • - Promote the work of the Global Land Initiative among young people.
  • - Assist with the organization of virtual meetings, workshops, or consultations.
  • - Perform other duties as determined by the supervising officer.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UNCCD Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualification Requirements
  • - Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree (science, arts, engineering, forestry, agriculture or related topics) programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
  • - Have graduated with a university degree and, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
  • - Applicants are required to have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Teams.
  • - Research skills.
  • - Writing skills.
  • - Planning and organizing.
  • - Computer literate, with sound knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Contract Duration: 03 to 06 months

Work Modality: Home-based

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
