Overview

Provide technical assistance on analyzing financing needs among countries in the region and follow up with partnering institutions or technical experts to guide efforts on financing the ICPD agenda.

Tasks Summary
  • Support the implementation of UNFPA’s ASRO Regional Programme Output 3 on leveraging sustainable financing and investments.
  • Support UNFPA’s technical leadership and assistance on health financing, universal health coverage and systems within the Arab States region.
  • Support the provision of approaches to engagement with International Financial Institutions (IFIs), including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and the private sector.
  • Provide technical analysis and inputs for evidence-based advice in health economics and health financing analysis.
  • Support the development and monitoring of regional partnerships in health economics and financing.
  • Support the development, data analysis, synthesis of trends, and implementation of tools for tracking public investments.
  • Support collaboration with UN agencies and multilateral partners, academia, research and training institutions, think tanks, centers of excellence and professional societies in the region on the financing mandate.
  • Carry out any other duties as required.
Experience Requirements
  • 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Skills and experience in an economist role, preferably with exposure to sexual and reproductive health and family planning or social sector financing, public financial management, and health systems strengthening.
  • Demonstrated experience or familiarity with the operational modalities and financing instruments of International Financial Institutions (IFIs), other major global financing partners, and the private sector.
  • Demonstrated substantive understanding of areas relevant to UNFPA's mandate such as Family Planning, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Gender-based violence, Population dynamics.
  • Established global and regional professional networks related to health economics.
  • Field experience is an asset, preferably within the Arab States region.
Qualification Requirements

• Master's degree in economics, public finance, public policy, or related disciplines (including health economics).

Contract Duration: 12 months (with possibility of extension)

Work Modality: Onsite

Remuneration: • Volunteer Living Allowance (USD 3,522.23/Month) • Entry Lump-Sum = USD 4000 (one-time payment) • Exit Lump-Sum upon completion of contract. • Medical and life Insurance premium/Cigna (100%) and dependents policy. • Access to UNV E-Campus for training and learning including access to LinkedIn learning.
