Overview
The Population and Development Assistant will support UNFPA’s Population and Development (P&D) portfolio through technical and analytical support, programme and planning support, capacity development, coordination, and knowledge management.
Tasks Summary
- Support data collection, analysis, and visualization related to population dynamics, fertility, youth, migration, and demographic trends.
- Assist in the preparation of analytical briefs, presentations, and technical notes.
- Contribute to reviews of national policies, strategies, and plans.
- Support integration of population data and demographic analysis into UNFPA programmes.
- Assist in monitoring progress against P&D-related outputs and indicators.
- Support reporting to donors, HQ, and inter-agency coordination mechanisms.
- Participate in structured mentoring and coaching sessions.
- Undertake on-the-job learning.
- Support documentation of methodologies, tools, and lessons learned.
- Support coordination with national counterparts, UN agencies, and partners.
- Assist in organizing technical meetings, workshops, and learning events.
- Contribute to maintaining organized repositories of P&D data, analyses, and technical resources.
- Support dissemination of knowledge products and learning materials.
Experience Requirements
- 3 years of relevant professional work experience with programme support, data analysis, research, or reporting.
- Strong analytical skills and interest in population and development issues.
Qualification Requirements
• University degree in demography, economics, statistics, public health, social sciences, or a related field.
