Overview
The Gender Equality Officer will support the implementation of the GAC SRHR project by ensuring the integration of gender-sensitive and gender-transformative approaches across all project activities. The role involves contributing to gender analysis, supporting the application of gender equality principles, and ensuring gender-related outcomes are monitored and reported.
Tasks Summary
- Collaborate and support other project teams in integrating gender responsive lens within project activities.
- Plan and implement gender-transformative activities.
- Support the integration of SCI’s Gender Equality Policy and Action Plan.
- Conduct and contribute to gender gap analyses.
- Provide technical support to partners and field teams to integrate gender equality.
- Develop tools and resources to support gender equality integration.
- Collaborate with teams to address drivers of gender inequality and prevent violence.
- Deliver and support gender-responsive training and awareness sessions.
- Monitor performance against gender objectives and manage risks.
- Identify and document lessons learned and best practices.
- Contribute to the development of project narrative reports.
- Support capacity-building efforts for staff and partners on gender equality and SRHR.
- Facilitate learning sessions and cross-learning opportunities.
- Promote inclusive participation of women, girls, and marginalized groups.
- Collaborate with the MEAL team to integrate gender equality considerations.
- Support the adaptation of MEAL tools.
- Ensure gender-specific indicators are tracked and reported accurately.
- Participate in field visits and data collection.
- Contribute to monthly and quarterly reports.
- Represent Save the Children in relevant gender-related forums.
- Support advocacy efforts to promote gender equality and adolescent girls’ rights.
- Contribute to the development of communication materials.
- Prepare and submit regular weekly/monthly plans and reports of activities.
- Participate in and represent Save the Children in external events/meetings.
- Undertake any training required.
- Comply with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures.
- Ensure all project activities are implemented in line with safe programming protocols.
- Carry out additional duties as may be assigned.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in gender-related programming, preferably in SRHR or development settings.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate gender equality into project design, implementation, and M&E.
- Experience working with community-based organizations and diverse populations.
- Strong facilitation, training, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of gender equality principles, gender mainstreaming another related approach.
- Significant experience in training, capacity building, and mentoring on gender equality and inclusion.
- Ability to think strategically to solve problems and accomplish goals.
- Well-developed communication skills across cultures.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team player and independently.
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver results with tight deadlines.
Qualification Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Gender Studies, Community Development, or a related field.
