Overview
The Country Economist will prepare the country partnership strategy, support country programming missions, and conduct economic studies. The role involves managing client relations and policy dialogue on macroeconomic issues, public financial management, and governance reforms.
Tasks Summary
- Contribute to the formulation of CPS and support country programming missions.
- Provide information and lead analyses for country programming activities.
- Monitor country economic, social, and political developments and appraise Management.
- Lead and ensure the quality of complex economic, sector, thematic, and country diagnostic studies.
- Coordinate with government counterparts and stakeholders to prepare Sustainable Development Finance Policy action targets and Progress Report.
- Facilitate the assessment of the impact of policies, strategies, and projects on beneficiaries.
- Collect relevant statistics for the Solomon Islands and maintain appropriate databases.
- Lead technical assistance processing and administration where appropriate.
- Manage development partner activities, such as consultative meetings, information sharing with aid agencies.
- Support the mobilization of cofinancing through collaborative country programming.
- Participate in relevant internal and external training and conferences for advocacy, distribution, and knowledge building.
- Help expand outreach activities conducted by the Solomon Island Resident Mission.
Experience Requirements
- At least 6 years of relevant professional experience in economic analysis, development planning and policy formulation, implementation and project administration, or related areas.
- International experience working in several countries.
- Experience working in public sector reform, public financial management, private sector development, or infrastructure financing.
- Familiarity with multilateral development bank's operational procedures is desirable.
- Knowledge of the development landscape and operating environment of Solomon Islands or the Pacific region is desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in economic research and development in developing countries.
- Experience managing and providing guidance to team members.
Qualification Requirements
• A University degree in economics, political science, public policy, public administration, or related fields; preferably at post-graduate level or its equivalent.
