Overview
Provide technical support to ensure projects comply with ADB's environment and social safeguard requirements, contribute to policy discussions, and develop knowledge products.
Tasks Summary
- Support the adoption, implementation, and monitoring of ADB's safeguards policies into projects.
- Conduct due diligence, analysis, and evaluation of project design and implementation.
- Review safeguard documents and overall safeguards performance.
- Assess potential safeguards impacts and prepare safeguards risk classification forms.
- Conduct preliminary and detailed review of environmental and social impact assessment reports.
- Advise borrower/clients on the incorporation of safeguards in project design and implementation.
- Support safeguards review missions and provide input for back to office reports.
- Recommend actions and evaluate compliance of projects.
- Support development of knowledge products and services.
- Update the safeguards database of projects.
- Participate in communities of practice and networks.
- Support the preparation of budget, activity plans and work programs.
- Support the engagement of staff consultants.
- Manage progress of TA implementation and contracting consultants.
- Support the implementation of conferences and workshops.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Experience Requirements
- At least 8 years of relevant professional experience in a safeguards-related field (environmental and social analysis, planning, monitoring), with supervisory experience.
- Familiarity with relevant safeguard policies and safeguard requirements.
- Familiarity with safeguards risks associated with project processing and administration.
Qualification Requirements
Bachelor's degree in environment science, environmental management, anthropology, sociology, social science, or related fields; preferably with Master's Degree, advanced training or equivalent.
