Overview

Provides advice and support to the Resident Coordinator and the UNCT on strategic partnerships for SDG achievement. Participates substantively in joint resource mobilization for the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.

Tasks Summary
  • Provides advice on the development and implementation of the UN Partnership Strategy.
  • Coordinates the UNCT wide inter-agency Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Working Group.
  • Supports a UNCT working group for strategy implementation, monitoring, and assessment.
  • Conducts liaison and coordination with UN entities to define a value proposition for local UN partnerships.
  • Serves as an entry point for external stakeholders seeking guidance on partnering with the UNCT.
  • Provides support in identifying risks and opportunities related to partnerships and suggests mitigation measures.
  • Provides inputs on due diligence processes for potential investment and partnership opportunities.
  • Supports the development and implementation of locally tailored partnerships.
  • Serves as liaison to Global Compact Local Networks.
  • Provides substantive support to develop and implement locally tailored resource mobilization strategies.
  • Monitors and analyzes existing resource mobilization partnerships and relationships.
  • Supports the UNCT with analysis of funding streams.
  • Supports the UNCT in preparation of the Funding Framework.
  • Provides support in the design of joint programmes.
  • Advises on offers from specialized UN entities and develops a youth partnership strategy.
  • Advises on corporate policies relating to effective management of resources.
  • Assists in the establishment and management of the country-based SDG Fund.
  • Provides advice on partnership opportunities to drive financing for development options.
  • Contributes to preparing briefing papers and discussion points on partnership issues.
  • Contributes to advocacy, communications and dialogues with partners.
  • Ensures effective engagement of relevant counterparts for SDG financing partnerships.
  • Undertakes the design and execution of innovative proposals to strengthen UNCT engagement and generate financial resources.
  • Supports building and monitoring partnerships with non-traditional actors.
  • Supports strategic engagement with private-sector actors, financial institutions and non-traditional partners.
  • Promotes collaboration, peer support, innovation, good practices, lessons learned, needs, and opportunities.
  • Researches, analyzes and presents best practices and lessons learned from UN partnership initiatives.
  • Supports the UNCT with a knowledge repository of potential donors.
  • Monitors and analyzes best practices and successful models of SDG partnerships and resource mobilization.
  • Provides advice on global/corporate guidelines, tools and other materials.
  • Keeps abreast of emerging innovative approaches in partnerships, resource mobilization and donor engagement.
  • Reflects on processes and generates knowledge valuable to others.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience and track record in project or programme management in the context of development cooperation or related area is required.
  • Experience in preparing project or programme proposals is required.
  • Experience in developing and implementing partnership and financing mechanisms (e.g. blended finance, catalytic capital), and or resources mobilization strategies is required.
  • Experience in supporting knowledge management for partnerships is required.
  • Experience in supporting financing of SDGs is desirable.
  • Work experience of two (2) years or more in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Qualification Requirements
  • Advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent degree) in business or public administration, sustainable development, social sciences, education or related area, is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is an advantage.
