Overview

The Project Assistant (Humanitarian Funds) will support the evaluation of project applications, provide technical assistance to civil society organizations, and contribute to fundraising and communications efforts for the United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund on Contemporary Forms of Slavery and the United Nations Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture.

Tasks Summary
  • Assist in the evaluation of project applications;
  • Liaise with applicant civil society organizations to provide technical assistance;
  • Conduct substantive research on developments concerning torture and contemporary forms of slavery in specific countries;
  • Compile information on best practices and lessons learned from grantees;
  • Contribute to fundraising and communications efforts by updating strategy documents, preparing various materials, and conducting research on donors;
  • Help with the organization and servicing of annual sessions of the Funds' Boards of Trustees;
  • Take notes during meetings with stakeholders and carry out administrative duties;
  • Perform other related duties as requested by supervisor.
Experience Requirements

• 1 month relevant experience

Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or related field.

Languages Required: • English, Level: Fluent, Required

Languages Preferred: • Fluency in French or Spanish is an advantage. • Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable (i.e. Arabic, Chinese, or Russian).

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Modality: Onsite

Remuneration: • Volunteer Living Allowance (Per month) apx.: USD 3044.59; • Entry lump sum (one-time payment): USD 3500; • Exit allowance (for each month served, paid on completion of contract): USD 225; • Medical and life insurance: Cigna Private Insurance; • Annual leave: 2.5 days per month; • Certified sick leave: up to 30 days based on a 12-month cycle; • Uncertified sick leave: 4 days; • Learning leave: 10 working days per consecutive 12 months (shorter assignments are prorated); • Maternity Leave: 16 weeks; • Paternity Leave: 10 days
