International Individual Contractor (Data Assistant)

Overview

The individual contractor will undertake activities to improve the workflow for collecting, validating, and updating individual seizure data. The main purpose is the processing of data on individual seizures to conduct data analysis and research on drug trafficking trends.

Tasks Summary
  • Perform quality control on web-scraped drug and crime data and assist with processing and validation of data from other sources.
  • Identify open sources for the purpose of web scraping.
  • Collect, process, validate, deduplicate and standardize data.
  • Support the revision of existing/historical data, including anonymization and mapping of revised data production standards.
  • Integrate multi-sourced data into a central database.
  • Assist in defining and maintaining workflow documentation, guidelines and statistical standards.
  • Conduct outreach to and communicate/collaborate with Member States.
  • Provide technical assistance/capacity building support to national statistical and analysis counterparts.
  • Monitor communication with Member States and maintain the contact database and communication log up to date.
  • Populate database fields with collection data/information.
  • Conduct quality control review of data contributions of field-based staff.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in management of large datasets and data processing via statistical packages such as R, Python and Stata is required.
  • Experience working on drugs and crime data is required.
  • Extensive experience in Microsoft Office package is required.
  • Experience working in collaboration with national statistical and analysis counterparts including the provision of data technical assistance and outreach is required.
  • Experience developing and maintaining statistical standards is desirable.
  • Demonstrated skills in communication and planning, preferably in an international environment requiring cultural sensitivity and knowledge of different political, administrative and legal systems is desirable.
  • Experience in working with the United Nations system or similar international organization is desirable.
Qualification Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English, i.e. oral and written proficiency, is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.

Contract Duration: mid-April - mid-October 2026 (with the possibility of extension)
