Overview

The Project Officer Anticipatory Action plays a critical role in operationalizing Save the Children’s anticipatory action agenda, requiring strong coordination and decision-making skills in rapidly evolving contexts.

Tasks Summary
  • Support the design and implementation of anticipatory action plans.
  • Ensure early actions are gender-sensitive and inclusive.
  • Integrate climate resilience and preparedness into programming.
  • Monitor early warning information and hazard trends.
  • Support development of triggers and activation protocols.
  • Contribute to community risk mapping.
  • Facilitate participation of women and girls in preparedness.
  • Strengthen community awareness on anticipatory action.
  • Promote safe and inclusive access to early action resources.
  • Work with MEAL teams for data collection and feedback.
  • Track implementation progress and document lessons learned.
  • Contribute to donor reports and evidence generation.
  • Train and mentor field staff, community-based workers, and partners.
  • Promote integration of child safeguarding and protection standards.
  • Deliver training and mentoring to staff and community volunteers.
  • Strengthen local capacity for gender-responsive early action.
  • Ensure adherence to safeguarding, protection, and gender equity standards.
Experience Requirements
  • At least 2 years of field experience in humanitarian response in DRR, anticipatory action or emergency preparedness.
  • Experience in implementing or supporting FSL programs in crisis contexts.
  • Worked as a Project officer Anticipatory Action and DRR officer, or Project Lead- in above thematic Areas.
  • Good understanding of participatory approaches and inclusive community engagement, especially with children, Female and youth.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coordination skills, with the ability to work under pressure and in insecure settings.
  • Experience working with women-focused or community-based initiatives is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with anticipatory action frameworks such as forecast-based financing, early action protocols, or Start Network models is desirable.
  • Previous experience working with Save the Children or other child-focused organizations is desirable.
  • Experience in conflict-affected or displacement-prone contexts in Afghanistan or similar environments is desirable.
