Overview

To independently plan and undertake complex audit assignments in order to assess the soundness, adequacy and application of internal management and financial controls.

Tasks Summary
  • Perform complex/major audit assignments in multi-disciplinary audit teams, operational reviews, special audits.
  • Prepare risk-based audit plans and programmes, prepare and review audit working papers, develop and document audit observations and related recommendations.
  • Prepare comprehensive audit reports incorporating input from team members, answers from auditees and Management feedback.
  • Lead or participate in work planning, development of professional practices and ad hoc assignments.
  • Communicate timely and effectively with the Management of the Office of Internal Audit on the status of engagements.
  • Monitor the status of audit recommendations, assess the adequacy and timeliness of actions taken.
  • Support coordination of activities with WFP’s external auditors.
  • Make significant contribution to the development and update of Internal Audit policies and procedures.
  • Identify training needs, develop training programs and materials, and deliver workshops.
  • Provide direction and guidance to team members, coach them for effective team work and results, and assess their performance.
  • Participate in professional practice and innovation activities & perform other duties as required.
Experience Requirements

At least eight or more years (three of which international) of relevant progressively responsible experience in planning, leading and executing internal audits in various organizations that use modern auditing techniques including auditing automated financial and management information systems, management and operational areas. Demonstrated records of supervision of audit teams or staff.

Qualification Requirements

Advanced University degree in Audit, Business and Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or other related field, or First University degree with additional professional experience. Completed certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Chartered Accountant (CCA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or equivalent is required (or proven internal audit experience).

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency (level C) in English language.

Languages Preferred: Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or Portuguese (a WFP working language).

Contract Duration: Fixed-term contract with a probationary period of one year.

Work Modality: Frequent travel to WFP Field Operations, mainly to developing countries, is required.
