Media and Communications Consultant (Multiple Positions) (Category A Consultant)

Overview

Support the implementation of media and communications activities for IOM Kenya, promoting accurate narratives on migration and enhancing the organization's online presence.

Tasks Summary

• Contribute to external communications strategies.
• Develop communications content aligned with IOM's brand guidelines.
• Enhance IOM Kenya's communications capacity through training materials and staff development.
• Support high profile visibility events and assist in preparing for IOM Kenya representation.
• Develop and contribute content to communications campaigns.
• Support the management of IOM Kenya’s online presence, including social media and website.
• Strengthen IOM’s links with media in-country.
• Draft media key messages, statements, and talking points.
• Engage with the UN Country Team’s Communication Group.
• Support the development and design of IOM Kenya data and research products.
• Support enhancing the visual elements of maps and statistical analysis products.
• Undertake duty travel to gather material for multi-media content.
• Ensure gender, diversity, and inclusion awareness in all external communications.

Experience Requirements

• Five years of relevant work experience in Communication, Journalism, or International Relations/Development.
• Experience working for an international organization (such as the UN), preferred.
• Experience in digital communications and social media.

Qualification Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant field in communication and journalism or related fields.

Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluency in English and Kiswahili (both written and oral) is required.

Languages Preferred: • Knowledge of other local languages is advantageous

Contract Duration: Nine Months
