Pollution Action Communication Expert

Overview

Support the implementation of the Chemicals and Pollution Action Pillar strategy and narrative, contributing to strategic advocacy and communication efforts to drive sustainable transitions and counter pollution.

Tasks Summary

• Support the implementation of corporate strategies for the Chemicals and Pollution Action Pillar.
• Propose innovative approaches and develop consistent materials.
• Draft outward-facing materials including stories, press releases, social media content, and video scripts.
• Translate scientific and technical information into relatable messages.
• Support outreach strategies for publications.
• Facilitate relationships and partnership building.
• Manage digital tools for internal coordination.
• Propose or contribute to outreach strategies.
• Develop communication materials for AMR, including for World AMR Awareness Week and the Independent Panel of Experts on AMR.
• Provide UNEP representation in the Quadripartite Awareness Working group on AMR.
• Contribute to joint communication strategies with AMR Quadripartite partners.
• Monitor media and online conversations.
• Integrate innovative tools for creative assets.
• Perform other related activities assigned by supervisors.

Experience Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years’ experience working in digital content development, creative writing, or journalism is required.
• A desire to drive systemic change to accelerate the transition towards sustainable consumption and production is required.
• Experience developing science-based content for international or scientific organizations is required.
• Experience working on pollution and/or environment and health communications, specifically on AMR or the One Health approach, is required.
• Proven interest and knowledge of environmental issues or sustainable development is desirable.
• Excellent communication and research skills.
• Interest in and/or experience handling communications for a team or project is desirable.
• Experience using innovative tools for data visualization and knowledge management is desirable.

Qualification Requirements

Master's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, content development, or related field.

Remuneration: A UN Volunteer receives a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) per month and is paid at the end of each month to cover housing, utilities, transportation, communications, and other basic needs. UNV provides life, health, permanent disability insurance as well as assignment travel, annual leave, and full integration in the UN security framework. UN Volunteers are paid a Daily Subsistence Allowance at the UN rate for official travels, flight tickets for the final repatriation travel (if applicable). A resettlement allowance is paid for satisfactory service at the end of the assignment.
