Overview
The Communication Officer will act as deputy leader of the Gaza Communication team, focusing on the development, outreach, and publication of communication materials for the Gaza operation.
Tasks Summary
- Proactively support the development and implementation of WFP Palestine Country Office’s communication strategy.
- Align communication initiatives with organizational goals and stakeholder expectations.
- Support the evaluation of communication campaigns and initiatives.
- Produce and oversee the production of compelling communication content.
- Collaborate with the Regional Office and HQ to manage content distribution.
- Support the production of accurate and timely messaging.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with media professionals and channels.
- Monitor media coverage and measure communication impact.
- Address reputational risks promptly and effectively.
- Contribute to the definition and implementation of a social media plan.
- Collaborate with Partnerships Unit and other stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities and emerging practices in media and communication.
- Provide technical advice to senior staff and Management.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on communication-specific risks.
- Support building the capacity of country office staff on communication best practices.
- Support/lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of WFP events.
- Guide and supervise junior staff as needed.
Experience Requirements
One year of postgraduate professional experience with advanced university degree or three years with first university degree is the minimum requirement. Additional years of relevant professional work experience in communications related fields is desirable. Experience working for the UN or an NGO highly desirable.
Qualification Requirements
Advanced University degree in Communications, Journalism, International Relations, or related field, or First University Degree with 2 additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
