Overview

To ensure the safe, punctual, and compliant transportation of UNHAS personnel and to maintain vehicles in good working order.

Tasks Summary
  • Maintain the vehicle in good working order.
  • Verify the condition of vehicles every morning (oil, water, brake and steering fluid).
  • Ensure vehicle safety.
  • Accompany UNHAS staff to the airport on flight days from 4 a.m.
  • Assist the team in moving cargo and necessary items for the operation, if needed.
  • Perform minor repairs and notify the supervisor in case of major breakdown or parts to be replaced.
  • Keep the logbooks of the assigned vehicle up to date: description of trips, departure/arrival times, fuel refills, names and visa.
  • In case of accident, take appropriate measures with the insurance.
  • In town, refuel as soon as the sub-tank is reached.
  • Keep vehicles clean.
  • Drive WFP official missions.
  • Inform (radio call) the S/B and Sierra Base of the vehicle's position, every morning, noon and evening during a field mission.
  • Do not undertake trips other than those indicated in the mission plans.
  • Do not take passengers other than those indicated in the travel authorizations or by supervisors, have them sign the non-claim form of insurance in case of accident.
  • Present up-to-date logbooks of his vehicle (kilometers covered, fuel consumption…).
  • Ensure respect for equality between women and men during a trip (mission etc.).
Experience Requirements
  • At least two years of experience as a driver, preferably with WFP or a UN system organization or another international organization, and good driving record.
  • Experience driving vehicles of different makes and models, including vans and other types of motorized vehicles.
  • Desirable experience in preventive driving.
Qualification Requirements
  • Secondary education diploma.
  • Official driver training and driving license or valid driving certificate authorizing the use of the assigned vehicle in compliance with local regulations.
Other Details

Languages Required: • Proficiency (Level C) in French and/or intermediate knowledge (Level B) of another official language (English or Arabic).
