Overview
The Mail Assistant will be responsible for handling a broad range of mail services within the General Support Section.
Tasks Summary
- Assist in x-raying incoming mail and pouches.
- Maintain logs of mail items received.
- Count and record quantities of mail items by category.
- Receive mail from courier agents.
- Deliver special mail and packages.
- Assist in coding, sorting, processing, and identifying client locations.
- Advise supervisor of missing, tampered, or suspicious mail.
- Provide guidance on diplomatic pouch and mail services.
- Inspect parcels for forwarding to field offices.
- Process outgoing official correspondence.
- Check outgoing mail for official materials and efficient dispatch.
- Ensure timely distribution of conference documents.
- Record and calculate daily postage charges.
- Respond to inquiries regarding postal and UN pouch services.
- Operate electric delivery vehicle or other equipment.
- Ensure prompt delivery of urgent mail.
- Assist with data collection, analysis, and report preparation.
- Assist with visualizations and updating information material.
Experience Requirements
A minimum of two years of experience in handling mail, pouch, registry operations or related area is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to 0 for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
Qualification Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
