Overview

The Operations Intern will provide administrative support to the Operations Unit team at UNODC Brazil, assisting with various operational processes.

Tasks Summary
  • Assist in monitoring procurement processes for goods and services.
  • Support procedures related to the issuance of travel tickets and organization of travel expense reports.
  • Support the recruitment and management of consultancy contracts.
  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving management practices in Consultancies, Procurement, Administration, and Travel.
  • Assist in the creation, updating, and organization of control spreadsheets related to travel, consultancies, and procurement processes.
  • Support the feeding and consolidation of data in control spreadsheets and institutional reports.
  • Assist with the preparation and dissemination of emails and other internal communications related to operational processes.
  • Support the translation and revision of institutional documents and materials, when necessary.
  • Assistance in analyzing Vendor’s Forms to request that their bank information be uploaded to the system.
  • Support with petty cash forms.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Previous internship experience in International Organizations or government is desirable.

Qualification Requirements
  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
  • Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written Portuguese and English is required for the internship.

Languages Preferred: Fluency in Spanish is an advantage.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Modality: Remote Part-Time

Remuneration: The internship is UNPAID and interns work five days per week (part time - 20 hours). Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
