Overview

The internship is located in the Conference and General Services Section (CGSS) within the Division of Administration and supports ESCAP and a broader UN community by providing effective and efficient one-stop conference support services.

Tasks Summary
  • Assistance in drafting and preparing official documents.
  • Attending and summarizing meetings.
  • Conducting document, market and internet research.
  • Working on web-presentations.
  • Compiling statistics.
  • Generating a variety of statistical and other reports, work orders, etc. using various databases in Excel and SAP.
  • Performing data entry and extraction functions.
  • Conducting media analysis.
  • Conducting evaluation of projects.
  • Liaising with other Sections of ESCAP and/or other UN entities on CGSS administrative matters.
Experience Requirements

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.

Qualification Requirements
  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Fluency in spoken and written Thai is required.

Languages Preferred:

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Modality: flexible working arrangements, subject to certain conditions

Remuneration: The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
