Overview
The incumbent is responsible for maintenance, repair, overhaul, and rebuilding of diesel generators and other electrical appliances within UNHCR premises, and to apply and ensure adherence to safety programmes related to electrical systems.
Tasks Summary
- - Ensure new electrical installations meet performance and safety standards.
- - Identify and rectify improperly done existing electrical installations.
- - Develop and follow maintenance schedules for electrical installations.
- - Maintain electrical installations to prevent danger to staff or equipment.
- - Oversee maintenance activities on power generators by external contractors.
- - Perform basic maintenance on power generators, including checks on oil levels, fuelling, and adding water/coolant.
- - Identify obsolete or unsafe equipment and recommend replacements.
- - Prepare a list of required spare parts.
- - Assist with the purchase of electrical materials and supervise external electrical works.
- - Enforce local and international electrical standards for all electrical installation and maintenance activities.
- - Conduct physical inventory checks.
- - Inspect, test, evaluate, calibrate, and update generator systems and wiring.
- - Prepare inspection reports and labor/material estimates.
- - Train co-workers on preventive maintenance and equipment repair.
- - Support risk identification and management.
- - Perform other related duties as required.
Experience Requirements
- For G5- 2 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 1 year relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher.
- Desirable: Power supply field experience.
