Product/UI/UX Designer

Overview

Contribute UI/UX design expertise to enhance the user experience and visual appeal of OHCHR digital applications, including the Human Rights Data Exchange. Conduct user research, create wireframes and prototypes, and develop visual designs aligned with brand guidelines.

Tasks Summary

• Work with front-end developers in designing user interfaces for the Human Rights Data Exchange, ensuring quality, accessibility, and usability.
• Map data workflows and business processes, capturing user stories for new features and improvements.
• Provide quality control for platform content and usability, working with end-users.
• Develop visual material, mock-ups, and slide decks for stakeholder engagement and training.
• Design, create, and update static information products such as reports, charts, and infographics.
• Develop standard templates and digital formats for dashboards, maps, fact sheets, and infographics.
• Investigate and propose data visualization scenarios.
• Strengthen outreach and visibility efforts through written materials.
• Provide trainings and build capacities within the team on product development and related tools.
• Deliver quick-turnaround visual assets for internal and external use.
• Enhance layouts and visuals for presentations and documents.
• Ensure consistency with OHCHR visual identity across all outputs.

Experience Requirements

• Experience in designing user interfaces and experience flows for complex, data-driven applications.
• Experience in static and online product design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe InDesign, XD, Sketch, or similar is required.
• Experience in responsive design, cross-platform compatibility, and/or accessibility standards is required.
• Experience in conducting user research, create wireframes, prototypes, and/or performing usability testing is required.
• Experience in developing design systems, UI style guides, and component libraries is desirable.
• Knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for effective collaboration with development teams is desirable.

Qualification Requirements

• A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree or equivalent), preferably in Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Information Technology, or in a related field to the post description, with four (4) years of relevant experience is required.
• An advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent), preferably in Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Information Technology or in a related field to post description with two (2) years of relevant experience is desirable.
