Overview

This internship focuses on assisting the Outreach Division of the Department of Global Communications with various outreach and communication activities. The role supports the Civil Society Unit, Creative Community Outreach Initiative, and Messenger of Peace Programme.

Tasks Summary
  • - To assist with screening and reviewing registration applications for High-Level Events and association with the Department supported by CSU
  • To assist with providing support for projects undertaken with external partners from the entertainment or sports industries, such as drafting of background materials, taking meeting notes, etc.
  • To assist with monitoring and reporting on social media activities of civil society and celebrity influencers in support of the UN; and collating metrics on advocacy engagement.
  • To assist with planning and organization of events and other in-person activities at UN Headquarters.
  • To assist with drafting, formatting, editing and posting original content for the team's websites.
  • To assist in the drafting of communications materials, including concept notes, talking points, presentations and press releases.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualification Requirements
  • be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English is required for the internship.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an desirable.

Contract Duration: 3 Months

Work Modality: full-time and in-person in New York, but can be adjusted based on the availability of the successful candidate.

Remuneration: The internship is unpaid. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
