Overview

The Education and Child Protection Programme Manager will manage the implementation of education and child protection programming, lead on overall programme delivery, budget management, staff and team management, and partnership management.

Tasks Summary
  • Ensure the implementation of Education and Child Protection interventions within the project period, with a focus on quality programming while ensuring targets are met.
  • Ensure the implementation of Education and Child Protection in emergencies interventions.
  • Ensure effective management of the Child Protection and Education programmes, including budget management, developing and monitoring programme work plans, and overall management of Child Protection and Education teams.
  • Oversee the implementation of quality child protection and education activities across multiple locations.
  • Ensure a safe programming approach and ensure risk assessments and mitigation plans are in place for child safeguarding.
  • Work closely with logistics and human resources teams to ensure procurement and recruitment plans are in place.
  • Quality assure programme and donor reports on child protection and education project activities.
  • Ensure integration of child protection and education with other core sectors.
  • Ensure that minimum standards are maintained in accordance with relevant guidelines and standards.
  • Work closely with the MEAL team to ensure the effective monitoring and evaluation of programmes.
  • Work closely with the MEAL and PDQ team to put in place accountability measures.
  • Identify opportunities and materials to contribute to communications and media work.
  • Work closely with Area Manager and PDQ team on identification of gaps in child protection and education services.
  • Support fundraising for child protection and education.
  • Work with the Education and Child Protection Technical Advisor to develop innovative approaches.
  • Assess training needs within the child protection and education teams and develop an overall capacity building plan.
  • Provide regular constructive feedback to direct reports.
  • Ensure capacity building of local partners implementing child protection and education interventions.
  • Work closely with the Partnership Unit for the identification of local partners.
  • Be responsible for partnership management to ensure programme delivery.
  • Support in the completion of partner assessments and work closely with partners on development of proposals and budgets.
  • Provide continuous programme management and facilitate technical support to partners.
  • Ensure that Save the Children's work is coordinated with efforts of other agencies.
  • Represent Save the Children in the Education in Emergencies and Child Protection in Emergencies working groups.
  • Ensure community acceptance and maintain engagement with local government.
Experience Requirements
  • 5 to 7 years experience in successful delivery of large-scale programmes in humanitarian or development contexts.
  • Ability to identify the main gaps in education and child protection services in the given context to inform a holistic response for children.
  • Significant project management experience.
  • Knowledge of established inter-agency standards and guidelines in education and child protection.
  • Experience in coordination with local and international NGOs, representation with donors and humanitarian actors.
  • Previous experience managing teams, including staff training and capacity building of organisational staff and partner staff.
Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in Education, Social Work, Human Rights Law, International Relations, Development Studies, or other relevant field.
  • Equivalent field experience will also be considered.

Languages Required: • Fluency in English and Arabic both written and verbal.
