Overview

Provide strategic communications support to the organization and/or specific projects or departments, developing and implementing targeted messaging and campaigns. The role involves advising staff on communications topics and producing content for various platforms.

Tasks Summary
  • Maximize the impact of communications to raise awareness and build engagement.
  • Develop and implement strategic communications by creating, shaping, and delivering targeted messaging and campaigns.
  • Provide expert advice and support to staff on strategic communications-related topics.
  • Ensure all communications activity is in line with Communications Directorate guidelines and best practice.
  • Provide advice, training, and capacity-building support on effective communications and advocacy techniques.
  • Collaborate with other INTERPOL projects and initiatives for a coordinated approach.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of communications and advocacy efforts.
  • Create or draft engaging content for all communications platforms, including press releases, web stories, social media posts, and blog articles.
  • Create or commission visual materials such as videos, photos, or infographics.
  • Support the prioritization of content production.
  • Collaborate with INTERPOL's Communications team for consistent messaging and branding.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to designing and implementing engagement strategies.
  • Establish and maintain a network of contacts with key external stakeholders.
  • Provide expert advice and coordinate external communications, including media relations.
  • Help develop and implement strategies to measure and evaluate external communications impact.
  • Collaborate with teams to identify stories and compelling narratives.
  • Develop case studies, gain strategic insights, and develop success stories.
  • Promote case studies internally and externally.
  • Stay up to date with best practice in communications and relevant developments in law enforcement.
  • Conduct field missions to support communications activity.
  • Identify and document best practices, challenges, and lessons learned from field work.
  • Contribute to donor engagement activities and act as a contact point on communications matters relating to donor relations.
  • Provide expert advice for work relating to donor relations.
  • Undertake any communications or engagement activities as requested by the hierarchy.
  • Perform any other duty as required by the hierarchy.
Experience Requirements
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in communications, preferably in an international organization or setting, government agency, law enforcement or development environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing communications strategies, campaigns and advocacy, via an evidence-based approach.
  • Strong stakeholder relations skills, together with experience in working with the media.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, content management systems, basic design, video and photo editing tools and other digital communications tools.
Qualification Requirements
  • Three to four completed years’ University degree in a relevant field is required.
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field would be an asset.
  • Ten years’ experience are required in the area if the post holder does not have the required level of education.

Languages Required:

Languages Preferred: • Proficiency in English, with working knowledge of other official INTERPOL languages (Arabic, French, Spanish) an asset.
